Knowing Him and making Him known…

Fasting Szn.

Hello guys! Hope you’re doing well? 2019 has been good so far and surprisingly fast, this time last year, I had only just started understanding of salvation and I’m so so grateful for growth. I also wrote about fasting but this post is from Anesi version 2.0 lol.

In most churches and Christian communities, this is a season of prayer and fasting, basically to prepare for the year and to strengthen themselves. This post is to help expatiate the knowledge of fasting.

What is fasting? –It is the willing abstinence of some or all sorts of food or drinks for a period of time. Now this is the basic definition of fasting but might I add that fasting doesn’t include just foods or drinks. Fasting is the abstinence of things which take up a whole lot of your time or commitment, especially when it cuts short the time you spend with the Father. You could fast from junk foods, sweets, social media, etc. The list goes on and on but the most popular is food. A common misconception people have is that when you fast, food shouldn’t be eaten for a particular period and it ends there. Dear brother/sister, that is starvation. Fasting is never complete without spending quality time with Daddy in prayer and study. You give yourself wholly to the things of God when fasting for a good amount of time, say 3 hours each day you fast. Fasting isn’t a time of pity, you don’t have to put on a gloomy face and act like you’re being forced to starve, that’s hypocrisy. Jesus said in Matthew 6:17-18(KJV), ‘But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.’

It is encouraged to stretch yourself when fasting but when sick or for some other reason you can’t go on for long, then I’d advise you don’t overdo it. Fasting is essential for every Christian as it helps in spiritual growth and a lot of knowledge is gained during that period.

But does fasting get you saved? No, it doesn’t. The only way you get saved forever is believing that Christ died and rose on the third day to live forever. That he paid the price for the forgiveness of our sins and so, we are therefore justified. Glory to God! (I’d always seize the opportunity to preach the Gospel.)

But remember, fasting aids spiritual growth. There are also some health benefits. Don’t believe? Google it!😊

I love you but know that God is crazy in love with you, like nobody else.

Hey there! Tell me what you think about this post :)
