Knowing Him and making Him known…

Strict Obedience

I’m currently reading the book of Acts and one thing that has struck is the obedience of the disciples of Jesus, I’d like to refer to it as strict obedience. They were so passionate about spreading the Gospel that they didn’t care how often they were beaten. They always looked death in the face because they knew the hope of His calling, they fully understood the urgency ofthe Gospel and didn’t mind dying for it.

There are many instances where this occurred; let’s take Stephen for example, the first martyr. This man preached till death. Some Jews, unbelieving Jews that is, connived against him, saying he spoke against their laws and Moses. When asked what he had to say, he went as far back as the promises God made to Abraham and how He would be a father of many nations and his children will be as many as the stars in the sky and as many as the Grains of sand on the seashore (Gen 22:17), Abraham believed and it was counted unto him for righteousness. We are the stars and sand grains God talked about, all who believe by faith. Stephen then went on to talk about Joseph and Moses andhow He delivered them from slavery, he also went on to tell them how the prophet Isaiah wrote that heaven is God’s throne room and the earth, His footstool. There is no place humans can build for Him to stay but glory to God,He has made us His dwelling place. And when he said He had seen the Son of Man standing at God’s side, they stoned him to death.

Even at that instance, Stephen was still all forgiving and prayed that God did not hold it against them. We can see he was still not willing to denounce Jesus at death. How many Christians are willing to do that today? Some people will shamelessly deny Jesus at little instances. We have to urge ourselves to stand strong for the Gospel and pray to keep our faith so tenacious that nothing will be strong enough to shake it. Ever.

I pray for every reader that you continue to grow in the things of the Lord and the Holy Spirit in you causes you to walk in His statutes. My Pastor, Pastor Emmanuel Iren said,

Remember, I love you and God is crazy in love with you.

More grace, more love, more growth.
