The Berean Church
“My pastor said…”
“Man of God said…”
Okurrrr… but did the Bible say it though? 🤔
A lot of people these days are so guilty of this, they receive sermons and don’t go back to their Bibles to confirm if it’s true or not. Or they accept someone’s opinion on what the Bible says and just go with it. You’ll hear people say, “What I’m about to tell you, no prophet in the Bible talked about it. Yada yada yada!”
Bruva! Sistur! No offense but I don’t want to hear it. Telling me your own version of the Bible is an insort(insult) to my personality.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
A particular set of people that sparked my interest are the Jews who were in Berea. Look at this:
“That night, under cover of darkness, their friends got Paul and Silas out of town as fast as they could. They sent them to Berea, where they again met with the Jewish community. They were treated a lot better there than in Thessalonica. The Jews received Paul’s message with enthusiasm and met with him daily, examining the Scriptures to see if they supported what he said. A lot of them became believers, including many Greeks who were prominent in the community, women and men of influence.”
Acts 17:10-12 MSG
I mean, it was Apostle Paul talking to these people. Paul yo! Like messenger to the Gentiles Paul, I wrote letters to seven churches that guide believers Paul, the I abase and abound, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, even if you beat me or arrest me, I’ll preach the Gospel even when I’m being killed Paul! (Phew! I legit just blew your mind🌚)
But yea… these people received his message with enthusiasm (meaning: overflowing with eager enjoyment or approval) and then examined the Scriptures to see if what he said correlated. This is an attitude we should develop and master. When you take notes in church or while listening to that sermon, go back to the word of God, do your own study and see if they relate. That way you’re not only training yourself to accept only sound doctrine but you’re also growing.
I love you and God is crazy in love with you ♥️
