This is absolutely my favourite gospel! I’m in love love with every word and it basically talks about love. God’s unending love for mankind. As usual, I’ll be sharing a bit of what I learnt. So sit down and enjoy, this is the last Gospel 😊
- 1:4-5 tells us that Jesus is the light of men and where He is, darkness is not found. 12:36 tells us that while we have that light, we should believe in the light that we may be sons of light and 1:12 says that as many as receive Him, He gave the right to become children of God. When we believe in Jesus and in Him who sent Him, we become children of God, we claim our inheritance. We acknowledge the fact that our Father is up there willing to cater for us and there is nothing to fear because WE ARE LIGHT and darkness has no power whatsoever over us.
- 8:29- And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please Him. I think this says it all, God will never forsake you when you give and surrender your life and everything to Him. 9:31 tells us that God hears the prayers of those who worship Him and do His will. What is the will of God? Going back to Gen. 6:29, God told man to be fruitful and multiply. Bear good fruits and spread the Gospel of the Kingdom here on Earth. Multiply the number of people you draw closer to God, that is basically it. Jesus said, “My food is to do the will of He who sent Me, and to finish His work.” And He also says in 6:29 that the work of God is to believe in Him who He sent. This brings us to the next point…
- John 3:16. A very famous Bible verse. Now a lot of people just recite this without understanding. God loved us that He gave His only begotten Son. Do you know what it means to give up your most priced possession for the sake of people? People who at the end of the day won’t love you back or don’t acknowledge you? Or do you think God didn’t know that would happen? But that’s why He is God and not man. That love so powerful that it was worth that sacrifice. When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, he didn’t know that God would sacrifice His own Son for the children He promised him. And He asks us just to believe in Him and we would live forever. Believe and live right, I know it’s not easy but it’s the only thing worth it.
- Now 10:16 tells us that God must bring us to Himself. We are also created in His own image and likeness and I’m talking about the people who aren’t Israelites. He said other sheep which are not of this fold. We are are still His sheep so let’s come back to The Shepherd and hear His voice so that we will all become one flock.
