The Lawyer & The Judge: The True Mediator

Where?? Tell me!

Have you ever wondered where you’d end up after dying? If you asked me that some years ago, my answer would have been, ‘I don’t know mehn. With the way things are, I might go to hell.’ Tragic! I wasn’t comfortable with this fact, in fact, I was helpless. I had no idea what to do or where to turn, you know. Don’t get me wrong, I went to church but that didn’t give me the peace I was seeking. You know when you cry to God like every 2 days, confessing your sins and promising to never do it again? And then all of a sudden you’re back and even worse, you get tired of making promises you can’t keep. Lol. This was me, this was somebody else and I know for certain, it wasn’t a great experience feeling this way.

Let’s paint a little picture here:

You’re guilty of a crime and there’s nobody who can save you. No matter what you try to do, how many gifts you try to bribe the judge with, it just would not work because this judge is very just. And one day, this judge comes off his seat and stands as your lawyer. He knows the right things to say to himself to save you, he gives his all; takes the penalty for you, to save you from this crime you’re guilty of, he basically saves you from himself. The only thing he wants from you is believe that he who stands for you will judge you and trust that you’re free already. That is all, and you’re free indeed!

Sounds too good to be true, yes? That’s one thing hindering people from believing. ‘It’s too good to be true,’ they say. ‘Let’s lay up more sacrifices and do more good things to clear our names from this guilt book.’ But this judge has given you ‘expo’, he has clearly stated what he wants from you. ‘BELIEVE IN ME,’ He says. ‘Believe I’m the one who saves you and you’ll be saved.’

Look at Romans 10:9,

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Romans 10:9 KJV

We serve only one God and He says He is ‘I AM’, the alpha and omega, the author and finisher of our faith. Our religion doesn’t matter but our relationship with Him does. Christianity is a relationship. Jesus says,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

John 14:6 KJV

He is the only way, the only mediator. A mediator is like a middleman, there can’t be more than one middleman; it’s not a middle then. Mary is not our mediator, the “saints” are not, your pastor is not. Only Jesus is!

In summary, God came to die for us to save us from himself and he says in John, chapter 3, that anyone who doesn’t believe in Him is condemned already. The one who would pass judgement on all humanity is the same one who came to save us. Let us now answer the question I asked at the beginning, “Have you ever wondered where you’d end up after dying?”

My answer is so clear now, I am going to heaven. How do I know this?

  1. I believe in what Christ has done. His death, burial and resurrection and so, I have eternal life (John 3:16).
  2. I know that no amount of good works will save me but my faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-10).
  3. The Holy Sprit is within me; my body is His temple. Therefore, if God is within me, how can I go elsewhere than heaven? (1 Corinthians 6:19)
  4. My salvation is eternal, It’s never going anywhere. His love for me cannot be separated by anything and if He died for me while I was an enemy, now that I’ve been reconciled with Him, I would live forever with Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 8:35-39, Romans 5:10)
  5. God has said all this to me and I believe it.
